Biography

-She began her musical studies as a classical pianist.

-Went to the Music and Art H.S as Voice Maj.

-City College of NY –Majoring in Education school for several years, become seriously involved in voice study while in college plus began to sing professionally after giving up teaching.

Her successful act took her throughout the world, the mayor hotels in the US, Caribbean, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Acapulco, Canada, the Far East, the mayor cruise ship lines as well as a staring roll for six months in the hit Miami Beach revue “C’est si bon”.

For the last seventeen years she has had a very successful career as one of New York City’s top vocal teacher-coach.

Her own training and developing as a international singing star and her love talent and gift for teaching enabled her to formulate a teaching method based on a classical technique and geared for singers interested in the Broadway and cabaret stage as well as R&B, Rock, Jazz, Gospel.

Her patience and rapport, her ability to tailor the technique to each student needs, her love for the process, her optimisim and encouragement make her a uniquely gifted teacher.

She feels that believe in yourself is the key to a successful career, belief, determitation and hard work leading to singing with ease, confidence, joy, endurance and a full healthy voice.

Elayna Woods’ studio is atractive, comfortable and cozy, equipped with a piano, recording equipment and microphones. Each lesson is taped. In addition, vocal exercises and rehearsal tracks to be worked on at home are recorded.

Students are taught microphone technique, how to personalize lyrics, how to put an act together and prepare demos and auditions material.
